We offer core classes, workshops, retreats, public read-arounds, and outreach programs.
12-week creative writing classes provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals who want to explore their writing voice. Writers are encouraged to tell their stories in any written form they choose: fiction, poetry, journaling, essay, drama, or memoir. Participants actively practice respectful listening and careful feedback to create a non-competitive and non-judgemental atmosphere.
Classes allow for personal writing time, large and small-group sharing, instruction in useful and positive feedback, and opportunities to read aloud for an audience.
Weekly classes meet in a small group setting at The Benton House, located at 312 S. Downey Avenue in historic Irvington. At the end of each semester, participants host a public read-around to celebrate their writing.
